Okay, so, here’s the deal with my cat and fleas. It’s been a real headache, let me tell you. I noticed my little furball, Mittens, scratching like crazy a few weeks ago. At first, I just thought, you know, normal cat stuff. But then, it got worse. She was scratching non-stop, and I started to get worried.
So, I picked her up and started looking through her fur. And yep, there they were – fleas! Tiny little buggers, having a party on my poor cat. I felt awful. I tried a few things at first, like a flea comb, combed her every day. It helped a bit, got some of the fleas out, but it wasn’t enough. I was still seeing them, and Mittens was still miserable.
Then I remembered someone telling me about flea shampoos, but I also heard some people say that stuff can be bad for cats, drying out their skin and fur. But I was desperate. So, I decided to do some digging. I read a bunch of stuff online, and a name kept popping up: Advantage. Apparently, they make a flea shampoo specifically for cats. It killed fleas and ticks on contact. It sounded promising, but I was still a little nervous.
- First, I made sure to get the one specifically for cats, not dogs. The internet seemed to think that was important.
- Then, I gave Mittens a bath. She hates baths, by the way, so this was an adventure in itself. Lots of meows and struggling.
- I used the Advantage shampoo, following the instructions on the bottle to the letter.
- After the bath, I dried her off as best as I could. She was not a happy camper.
Here’s what I did:
But you know what? It actually worked! I haven’t seen a single flea on her since. She’s stopped scratching, and she seems so much happier. She’s back to her old self, napping in sunbeams and chasing her little toy mouse. I’m just glad I found something that helped her. I also followed up by treating my house because I read that fleas can be from outside. I washed all the bedding and everything. Hopefully, that will keep those nasty fleas away for good!
It was a bit of a process, but seeing Mittens flea-free and happy makes it all worth it. If your kitty is having flea troubles, you might want to look into it. Just make sure to get the right kind, and maybe brace yourself for a grumpy cat during bath time!
