Okay, so, I’ve been dealing with some pesky little critters on my cats lately, and I decided to do something about it. After some digging around, I found these two options: Bravecto and Bravecto Plus. I was like, “What’s the deal with these two?” So I started comparing them.
First, I looked at what they both treat. Turns out, Bravecto is all about fleas and ticks. Got it. But then Bravecto Plus, it does fleas and ticks, but also heartworms, roundworms, hookworms, and even ear mites. I was thinking, “Wow, that’s a lot more coverage!”
Then I went into what’s actually in this stuff. They both have this thing called Fluralaner, which is apparently pretty good at killing fleas and ticks. But, Bravecto Plus has another thing in it, Moxidectin. This Moxidectin is what deals with all those worms and stuff. I figured, “More ingredients, more protection, right?”
After that, I wanted to see what kind of side effects we might be talking about. For Bravecto Plus, I saw some cats might throw up, lose some fur, get itchy, have diarrhea, be lazy, have dry skin, and drool a lot. And it said it might not work as well for kittens under 6 months old. I made a note of that, just in case.
- Bravecto is just for fleas and ticks.
- Bravecto Plus does fleas, ticks, heartworms, roundworms, hookworms, and ear mites.
- They both have Fluralaner.
- Bravecto Plus also has Moxidectin.
- Bravecto Plus might make some cats have side effects.
I found out that Bravecto isn’t even approved by the FDA for cats, and apparently, its safety for cats hasn’t been figured out yet. I thought that is weird. Then I went on to look at how long this stuff lasts. Bravecto Plus says it works for about 2 months, while regular Bravecto might go up to 3 months. So, less time, but more coverage with the Plus version.
I also read that if my cats are outside a lot and around mosquitoes, Bravecto Plus is probably the better choice because of the heartworm protection. My cats are indoor most of the time, but still, it was good to know.
So, after going through all of this, I decided to go with Bravecto Plus. It seemed like the better option for my indoor furballs. They are getting a little older, and I figured it’s better to be safe than sorry with those extra parasites it covers. I gave them the treatment, and so far, so good! No fleas, no ticks, and hopefully, no worms. They didn’t really show any of those side effects, which was a relief.
Choosing between Bravecto and Bravecto Plus took a bit of effort. I just wanted to make sure I was doing the right thing for my cats. And honestly, it felt good to finally get rid of those fleas!
