Cat Litter Carbon Filter: How to Choose The Best One for Your Needs!

So, I’ve been dealing with this annoying cat litter smell in my apartment for a while now. You know, the kind that hits you right in the face when you walk in the door? Yeah, not pleasant. I’ve tried all sorts of cat litter, like the clumping kind, the crystal kind, even that fancy scented stuff. Nothing seemed to really tackle the odor.

Cat Litter Carbon Filter: How to Choose The Best One for Your Needs!

I was getting pretty fed up with it, and then my buddy mentioned these carbon filters specifically designed for cat litter boxes. I was like, “Carbon filters? What’s that all about?” He explained that they’re supposed to be super good at absorbing odors. Sounds logical.

So, I went on a hunt, because I decided I had to do something. I figured I’d give these carbon filters a shot. I found some online that were made for the type of litter box I have, which is one of those automatic, self-cleaning ones. It’s called a Litter-Robot, and it’s pretty convenient, but the odor control? Not so much.

I ordered a pack of these carbon filters, I also purchased a couple of different cat litters, like Premium Bentonite Clumping and 3-in-1 Natural Mineral Formula Cat Litter with Activated Carbon. They came with 30 included waste bags, which was a nice bonus. Honestly, when it came to adding a mat, I just picked up a cheap, simple one – nothing fancy.

The filters were super easy to install. You just pop them into a little compartment in the waste drawer of the Litter-Robot. I also put the mat under the litter box, and I was all set.

And guess what? It actually worked! It took a day or two, but I definitely noticed a difference. The smell was way less noticeable. I mean, it’s not like the smell is completely gone, but it’s a huge improvement. I think it was really worth doing.

Here’s what I used:

  • Carbon filters: Specifically designed for Litter-Robot 3.
  • Cat litter: Premium Bentonite Clumping Cat Litter, 3-in-1 Natural Mineral Formula Cat Litter with Activated Carbon.
  • Cat litter mat: Just a basic, no-frills mat.

So, yeah, if you’re struggling with cat litter odor, I’d say give these carbon filters a try. It might be worth trying a few different cat litters to see what works best for you and your cat, too. It definitely made a big difference for me. And I found that adding a basic mat helped contain any stray litter, keeping things a bit tidier. Now when I walk in the door, it doesn’t smell like a litter box anymore, and I’m pretty happy with the results.
