Okay, so, a few weeks ago, I finally did it – I got myself not one, but two kittens! A brother and sister, cutest little things you’ve ever seen. They’re inseparable, always cuddling and playing. But there was one big problem: I couldn’t think of any names for them!
I spent days, seriously, DAYS, trying to come up with the perfect names. I wanted something that showed they were siblings, you know? Something that just clicked. I started by looking online, just browsing through lists of popular cat names. I saw names like Thomas, Eddie, Sophie, Betty – all good names, but nothing really stood out for my little duo.
Then I thought about famous pairs. I wrote down some names, like Anne and Andy, as in from Raggedy Anne and Andy. Also I wrote down Arnold and Danny, you know, from the movie Twins. It was fun, but still nothing really felt right.
Then, I remembered something I read about how cats respond to names. Apparently, they like higher-pitched sounds and shorter words. That got me thinking more about the sounds of the names, not just the meanings. I started saying different names out loud, trying to see if the kittens reacted. They just stared at me, probably thinking I was crazy. But hey, you gotta do what you gotta do, right?
- Bacon and Eggs – It just sounds funny and cute! These two are always together, like the classic breakfast combo.
The Eureka Moment
After a couple more days, I thought maybe I can name my cats based on foods. When I yelled out “Bacon,” the little boy kitten perked up his ears. And then, when I said “Eggs,” the girl kitten looked right at me! It was like a sign from the universe. Bacon and Eggs. It was perfect!
It’s been a fun journey finding the perfect names for my fur babies. And the best part is, they seem to love their names as much as I do. They come running when I call them, well, most of the time. They’re still kittens, after all!
